16 Objects in Space

This episode is about the Firefly tv show episode “Objects in Space.”

I get into all sorts of angles on it, from found family on spaceships (my favorite) to when a person is an object and vice versa.

Other texts mentioned are the found family sci-fi show Farscape, Marge Piercy’s SFF novel He, She, and It, and Sister Helen Prejean’s amazing book Dead Man Walking as well as the film of the same name. Oh and Poker Face, which I have to start watching ASAP.

Treating people as objects is at the heart of this episode, but the resolution comes from an object basically being a person. There are other interpretations possible, oh yes. Tell me yours!
